A photoshop of this post.
Her right ankle looks twisted because you used the foot from the original, but I think you did a good job, especially with the top and the boobsocks.

Since this is supposed to be the original Isis (warped to the future) shouldn't she not be white?

I did this sketch because I actually quite liked the design on that one, I just feel a slightly longer dress would have saved how uncomfortable it is to look at the original. I also tried my hand at doing a more of an 'action' pose (which I'm not very good at).
I decided to make a redraw of the catgirl that was posted here a few days ago.Something I notice is that a lot of the time, when somebody does a simple redraw and just untwists the BnB pose, it's really undynamic. It doesn't give the same sense of motion the original does, because the original artist relied too heavily on the BnB to make it dynamic as opposed to the actual character flow/action.
Now I'm not the best at DYNAMIC POSES, but I tried to make her look as exciting as she was in the original. I didn't want to just untwist her because she's not that twisted to start with, so I gave her a new, but similar, pose with a little more in the way of hiding her panties-area. I think this gives that same sense of "Adventure!" without making it weird and twisted up.
Also, doodle monkey~! (Anybody else notice that in the original, the catgirl and the monkey had the SAME pose, except the monkey wasn't BnB'ing while she was? Weeeiiiirrrd~)
Combined two redraws into one again.
I think it's neat to see the different takes people come up with for a scene.

Even the name. EVEN. THE. NAME.
Maybe they mean "Armored" in the past tense, like she was armored, but she isn't anymore.

"She has a bad attitude and lots of weapons. This character commands an army of amazons, she's a figurehead, but also a fighter and always the first into battle. When presented with prisoners, it is she who decides who lives, who dies and whom she finds attractive. The prettier ones are fed to her beloved pet lions, as she believes that makes their manes softer."
I made a redraw of the warrior queen on this post. I thought I'd turn that boobs-and-butt pose from the original into a "seen from the back" one, since it seemed to be the best way to adapt it into something anatomically possible but keep a similar stance. I also found the fact she was holding both a sword AND a halberd really silly. How was she even planning to use both of them like that? A spear, I could picture, but a halberd?
I also replaced the ridiculous and terribly color-coordinated gym uniform with a traditional greco-roman armor, since it seemed to match with the tiara. I tried to give her more bulk, though the armor hides it a bit, but I'm also not too experienced at drawing muscular women, so I hope I got it right!
I included Chris Hart's original drawing for a comparison. :)

except they're nornso more like so coldespecially in that armor.Last year, ArenaNet wanted to hire more Guild Wars 2 characterartists and provided two art samples by Hyojin Ahn to reinterpret as 3D models.
I went to the forum for my guild, Praxis, and reinterpreted the art this way instead. Now I'm finally sharing outside my guild!Awwww yeah. Norn too sexy for gravity or having joints in socket.
As a male artist who still has trouble drawing females, I have to say thank you for this blog that reminds me that women have anatomy too. Love Escher Girls!
Thanks! And good luck with your art. :)

So, this is Niele, from the Brazilian comic Holy Avenger. She is presented to us as the most powerful mage elf from all the world of Arton. And the most busty. No, seriously, they mention her tits all the time in the story like we could forget with the artist shoving them on our faces all the time.
Also, she wears leather strips, so yeah… ouch.

(Content warning for video: sexualized violence, self-mutilation, sexual assault, rape)
Hey it's another video! (Thank you to everybody who submitted this to me.) This one is by MMO Attack contributor Joe Plork and is about hyper-sexualizing in video games, and how this is actually a really immature and superficial take on "sex" because actual sex, sexuality and sexual encounters are not actually often in games, and it's just "hey look at the boobs while she beats somebody up or kills somebody or is killed. Look at the pornface while she's shooting a gun or being headbutted!" and what not. It also goes to something that was said in the comments on this blog recently, that when people say "sex sells" about this stuff, that's actually not true, because no sex is actually being sold. We're selling sexualization of women, but generally, not actual sex OR sexuality.
As Jimquisition talked about in a previous video, developers have been told by publishers to actually not have their female characters have straight sexual relationships because it'll turn off the straight male audience. We want women in games to be sexualized, but not sexual. We want female characters in porn poses, with orgasm faces, curved spines indicating lordosis behavior, skin showing, battle bikinis, angles that show butts, close ups that show boobs, etc, while she's fighting, or getting beaten up, or captured, or falling, or etc etc etc, but not actually having sex. And we end up with stuff that just ends up being ridiculous with the battle bikinis, Ed Benes butt shots where it looks like everything is being drawn from the perspective of a gnome, and women who look like they're orgasming or posing when they're supposed to be injured or dead. And even when they're drawing stuff that's meant to be sexy, like a woman in a bikini, there's still often issues like breaking her spine because you just have to get as many sexy bits into the scene as possible. It's like everything is drawn as if the audience or creator might never see another sexy woman again, and we better make sure that every panel there's a chance to get boobs and butt, we do it. And it hurts storytelling and characterization.
Plus, as my friend always says: if everything is sexualized, then nobody is actually sexual. If all female characters are always swaying their hips, in boobs and butt poses, in revealing outfits, with the same faces, expressions, lipstick, eyeliner, etc, whether they're fighting, eating, or injured, then it's really hard to convey that any of the female characters are different, especially if you want to convey that some of them are sexual and others aren't. There's nothing wrong with a character being sexual, but often they aren't actually being sexual, they're just being sexualized while doing non-sexual things.
It's like a Michael Bay move: overusing CGI, explosions, rapid scene cuts, etc, doesn't create an effective action movie, it creates a giant mess that's hard to follow, takes away from telling a story, and can take viewers out of the movie. Just like use of action can be gratuitous or effective, so can use of sexualization, and sex. Having everything explode all the time and huge CGI battles may make a movie "action packed", but not necessarily a good movie, having battle bikinis and boobs and butt fighting poses may make a comic or video game "sexualized", but does not necessarily make it sexy or sexual, and can be just as distracting and harmful to storytelling as overusing CGI or explosions.

One Sturdy Swimsuit, Coming Right Up!
I was toodling around on facebook and saw this ad for an MMO:
And I clicked it because I just HAD to know. And this was the game I got to:
Take special note of our “Swordsman Lady’s” class description.
It’s also hard to see with the fading, but Ladymentalist to the right seems to have forgotten to put her pants on before taking her picture today.
Sadly, I have not played long enough to see if any of them turn into Sailor Senshi.
I think I actually recognize the Sailor Moon fan art they took that from. I love these non sequitur ads. “Hey come play our game if you like Sailor Moon, even though our game is nothing like Sailor Moon!”
Also, I’m amused that no matter what, the woman must always wear less. Even when the guy is just wearing a vest on top, the woman has to wear a bikini, and she doesn’t get pants. The tag “battle bikini” has never fit an outfit better, it’s not even a chain mail bikini, it’s just a swimsuit. xD
And the Elementalist is having one of those dreams where you show up to class/work/battle but you forgot your pants.

I’ve used Chris Hart’s Cutting Edge books before to try and teach myself better drawing — not as a bible of any sort, but just as a starting point. Given the regularity with which he turns up here, I think I may be in the market for some new books. What would you or any of your other readers recommend as a better guide for learning anatomy/comics/etc.? Are there any? Suggestions for serious fine-art anatomy books are welcome too.
This has been asked in the past, but I had much fewer readers back then and I can’t find the post. There is this post though with a bunch of suggestions in the comments, but it’s specifically about drawing manga art resources: http://eschergirls.tumblr.com/post/21403443738/pokestineasked-you-in-a-few-weeks-im-running-a though there are quite a few basic anatomy suggestions too.
Also there are some tutorials and such in the drawing resources tag.
But, I thought I’d open this question up to the floor again, to see if there are more suggestions for “how to draw’ books or other resources (including fine-art anatomy books, as the OP requested). :)
Any suggestions for the OP?
